Anna dressed in Blood- Kendare Blake

“She’s like Bruce Lee, the Hulk and Neo from The Matrix all rolled in to one.”- Anna dressed in Blood- Kendare Blake

Name- Anna dressed in Blood
Author- Kendare Blake
Rating- 4/5
Blurb-

"Cas Lowood is no ordinary guy - he hunts dead people. People like Anna. Anna Dressed in Blood. A beautiful, murderous ghost entangled in curses and rage. Cas knows he must destroy her, but as her tragic past is revealed, he starts to understand why Anna has killed everyone who's ever dared to enter her spooky home. Everyone, that is, except Cas..."

My review- When I first heard of this book, I immediately wanted to read it, not only because it has got really good reviews and is really well known in America but because it is different from all the usual vampires, werewolf's, witches etc... The fact that Cas hunts dead people put a thought in my mind that how can someone just kill those who are already dead and live through doing that through all your life and not feel any guilt or feel any regret. I was surprised when reading this book that Cas is following his father's footsteps as he himself was also a ghost hunter and even though his Mum knew about what he does for his living, she does not raise any issues and lets him do what he does best. Although later on in the book we get to see a different side to Cas, from being a cruel self centered guy to a sweet- hearted, loving person when his feelings towards Anna gets stronger after knowing her tragic past. By looking at all the reviews, everyone has said especially, not for younger readers, however when I started reading this book I did not feel scared as people intend it to be although I admit that the way the author has written very graphically and explained each sentence in detail, some scenes in this book are really vivid and haunts your mind as that is exactly what happened to me after finishing this book. When looking at this cover, a lot of thoughts enter through my mind, " Why is Anna, dressed in blood? " which portrays a sudden mystery on why does she kill everyone who enters her spooky home... However when I found out what was the reason behind all this, I was feeling sympathetic towards although disgusted and horrified at the same time when Anna's past was revealed on how could someone do that to their own daughter!  I did not overall like the plotline as much, however I really liked the way she has described and analysed each and every word as it makes me feel as if  I am there in reality and experiencing each and every minute, which gave me butterflies in my tummy although it did not fail to make me want to read more and more. I suggest you should not read this if you are a sort of person who likes reading light- hearted, romantic stories, as this book will take you through a dark roller coaster of a journey. It was a complete and utter shock when I found out that the killer of Cas's father is closer than he thought which gave me goosebumps. To be honest, I am not boasting but at night I was too scared to go to the bathroom which was right next to my bedroom! The only reason this book did not get full marks is because I would have expected a better stroyline, although the cliffhanger made up for it at the end which automatically tells you that there is going to be a second part to it.  I am really excited to read the next part, " Girl of Nightmares " to find out if Cas will stick to hunting dead people or whether he is willing to do what he can do find Anna from the dead.....

What are you currently reading?

I am currently reading Anna Dressed in Blood- Page 64/ 369- Chapter 6. I started reading it 2 days before, although when i first read the blurb it did not sound as good as I would have expected it to to be and was not sure what all the fuss was about because I checked before reading this book, the reviews for it and surprisingly they were in the range of 4-5 stars mostly and is very famous in America! However I am actually enjoying this book at the moment although I would advice you not to read this at night as there are a few vivid scenes which are quite disturbing and haunts in your mind which seems like forever which is why it is especially written at the back of the book not suitable for young readers. To be honest i wanted to read this book not just because it seems totally different from what other books I have read but also it is the first book to have tremendously amazing reviews and on the front cover Cassandra Clare, the  highly known author of the mortal instrument series wrote " spellbinding and romantic " which to be honest shocked me as out of all the people, she was not the one I would have expected. I was looking forward to reading this book as it is not one of the common paranormal types such as vampires, werewolf's, witches etc...  however it is a guy who HUNTS DEAD PEOPLE which is a first.... I also loved the cover of Anna dressed in blood which automatically portrays a mystery behind the name " Anna dressed in BLOOD ".

What did you recently finish reading?

I recently finished reading The Repossession by Sam Hawksmoor, which was such an amazing book and was something again I have never read before. I would highly recommend that book to anyone who is willing to try all sorts of genre's although I have explained this in my review for the book, it is not one of those light hearted books whereas you would have to really concentrate on what is happening... I would just like to say although it has got mixed reviews, do not judge by that and do not hesitate to be putt off by this book as you never know what might surprise you...  I really enjoyed the plot line of the book and is really accurately and is well detailed written. The fact that this book was not  predictable into knowing what is going to happen next which is why it was a page turner for me and to be honest I finished this book in 1 day however I have to admit I did stay late up at night to complete it.  The second part " The Hunting " is coming out soon and I cannot wait to find out what happens next!

What do you think you will read next?

I am thinking of reading Flowers in the Attic, even though it is a very emotional book as I have heard and especially after reading Anna Dressed in Blood you would try something which is light-hearted, however I am willing to take the risk and try something different from what I mostly like to read which is romance. Again this is one of the mystery type of books, and is not very predictable as you do not know what is happening till the very end! This has been turned into a movie also, which I have quite mixed thought's about because in my opinion, this is one of those book's that if they make it into a movie it will not have that same effect on the book as it did the first time you read it which is what exactly happened with Twilight- Stephanie Meyer series. This has got fantastic reviews and I am looking forward to reading it next...

And should they believe his stories about the experiments at the Fortress, an underground research station nearby?

Genie meets Denis. Missing two years now, but hasn't grown an inch. Rian is haunted by Renée, who insists she's not actually dead. Soon they discover the terrible truth about Reverend Schneider and worse, Genie is next ... and Rian can't do a thing to prevent it.

THE REPOSSESSION IS JUST THE BEGINNING.

My Review-   I have no words literally to describe how much I love this book! I have never read anything like this before which made me like this book even more as it is very much different from other sci fi books because the sci fi that is portrayed in this book made everything feel realistic  and believable to me, which is very hard to convey, the same effect on the reader. This book was not very much known in America so did not have as much reviews as it is written by a British author, however that did not fail in attempt to make me want to carry on reading it. The second I read the blurb for this book, It grabbed my attention as it is gradually leading you on to find the mystery behind how these kids are disappearing one by one!  The reason I gave this book 5/5 stars is because the plot of this book is based on true, real life- threatening events happening each and every day and not only putting a risk on the innocent children's lives but also making the parents suffer with guilt and regret. I was thoroughly pleased with the fact that The Repossession was not based on much of romance and was clearly focusing on the revealing mystery. This book requires you to think quite a lot as it is not one of those books that is a light hearted read. I absolutely adored the cover of this book as the image of Genie the girl who is possessed by the devil as so everyone believes so, as when you first look at it, it portrays sympathy on the reader because half of her face is covered with shattered glass which automatically draws you to the book! It really touched me how    Genie, who is heavily abused and tortured by her mother and on the other hand Rian, who achieves excellent grades , fits in with the popular and the geeks at school, who are both totally different people,  however Rian is willing to put his own life in danger in order to save genie's life and get her out away from her mental mother into thinking her own daughter is possessed by the devil. No matter how many times they will separate apart from each other, fate will always bring them closer together. To be honest when i found out they were both 15 years of age, it slightly put me off because young love, in my opinion is very immature as they do not even know what the phrase " love" actually means. However after reading this book, it proved me wrong as it goes to show when two people who love each other very much, nothing else matters! I really liked how this book was not very predictable into knowing what is instantly going to come onto you next.I was shocked and surprised at the same time how much well detailed sci- fi research is put into this book although I have got to say when I first read the blurb, it did not occur to me into being a sci- fi and more of a supernatural type of book. The way the tension kept on building at each pace, I thoroughly enjoyed as there was something to look forward to every time. Although this is one hefty book full of 499 pages long, do not be put off by that as I was actually shocked how I would have never thought to read the whole, entire book in one day straight, however i got to admit i did stay up late at night to complete it. The second part " The Hunting " is coming out later on these next few months I believe, which I am so excited to read and finding out if Genie, Rian and Renee's friendship will be that strong in able for them to survive? I highly recommend for everyone to read this book and I am sure you will not be disappointed! Again do not be put off by the reviews on this book even though they are mixed in the range of 3-5 stars, give it a go and you never know what might surprise you!

Hades by Alexandra Adornetto

“A body is merely a vehicle. The deepest emotions are experienced through the soul.” - " Hades- Alexandra Adornetto"

Is love a great enough power against evil?
Bethany Church believes so - after all, the love of her angel siblings and her boyfriend Xavier saved her from the clutches of Hell itself.
But when Jake Thorn returns to town determined to take Beth away with him, it seems he may be able to destroy everything she cares about.
Will Jake's actions shatter Beth's faith in love? Or can she overcome heartache and betrayal to fulfil her role on Earth?

My review-  Hades was such an amazing book, that i finished it in 2 days and took it with me wherever I went which shows that i was that addicted to it that i could not stop reading to find out what happens next!! Hades was so much better than Halo, which to be honest I did not expect it to be as Halo was all about romance which was a bit of  a letdown, however the epilogue in Halo was left at a cliffhanger, and a suspense which suddenly made me want to read the next part to find out what happens next and does Xavier and Beth' s relationship still last? As I started reading Hades, it was getting better and better as I kept going as it was not only about romance but also there was some action, suspense, dilemma's which put some spice into the story line of the book. As horrible as that sounds, I was in a way happy that Xavier and Beth were far apart for each other even though not literally as you would later find out in the book, as otherwise the book would have no meaning if they both lived happily ever after. Later on in the book, you will feel really sorry for Jake as he is in love with someone who cannot love him the same way in return, and as cocky as of a person he is to everyone, you see a side of him that you would not imagine if that is really him? Closer to the end, Beth is faced in a dilemma, which can risk losing Xavier or losing her virginity to Jake and regretting it for the rest of her life...  Although it ends in a happy ending, the epilogue makes up for it, once again leaving the readers in a surprise! I cannot wait for the third part to come out " heaven" later on in this month to find out what happens next! I was really surprised how people gave really bad reviews for this book, mostly 1's as i would have expected more in the mix range of 3-5 stars and some of the comments they put just not only makes me feel disgusted at the people but also makes me feel sorry for the author as she has worked so hard on these series of books and the readers pay her back with such humiliation, how would that make you feel if someone did that to you? I also really like the design and the layout of the front cover! This book reached out to me as it was something very different which I had never read anything like before,  and If you are a religious philosophical person, I highly recommend this book to you and am sure you would not be disappointed. Although a warning to people who despise poetry about love as it contains quite a bit which might put you off especially in Halo! You also find out that Beth has some secret powers that even herself she did not know about as she is a angel however she has emotions and feelings that a human being would develop unlike her brother and sister which have no intention of being caught in the love triangle, their main expectation is to save the people on Earth and make it a better place! You will not only see a different side to jake but also beth as reading Halo you would see she is quite a weak person and is easily manipulated by others however in hades you see that she has to make some sacrifices even if it means risking her own life which shows a more stronger and more braver side to her as she is willing to put her life in danger in return for her close loved ones to be safe!
